🌙 Written by Stefan Zugor, international lucid dreaming expert and teacher. Learn how to lucid dream in 7 days or less.

This is my honest review of Dream leaf, a popular lucid dreaming supplement. The lucid dream leaf supplement consists of two pills to take, a red and a blue. Of all the lucid dreaming pills I’ve tried these seem to be performing the best, and I have a lot to talk about so let’s get into it!

Imagine there was a pill you could take that would just GIVE you lucid dreams.

Well, I know that sounds pretty awesome, maybe even too goo to be true. But let me explain what I mean.

As I say about all lucid dreaming supplements:

Don’t get DreamLeaf UNTIL you can already lucid dream. Learn how to do that here. THEN come back and consider getting a supplement to boost your skills and experiences.

So, what is it?

What is Lucid DreamLeaf?

Lucid DreamLeaf is a lucid dreaming pill (or I should say, TWO pills) that helps you induce lucid dreams and sleep better. There are two different pills that are different colors, and when you take them at the right times they can help you become lucid in your dreams.

You take the blue one first, and then the red one later after 4-5 hours of sleep. The idea being you achieve deep sleep and REM sleep. It claims to promote lucid dreaming and dream recall, so I thought I’d give it a try and let you guys know how it went!

Little note – I really love how the pill colours are based on The Matrix. For those who don’t know, The Matrix is a film which portrays how it might feel in a dream and being able to control the world around you. In order to enter this state, in the film the protagonist is given a choice of a Red or a Blue pill. One will take him into the dream world, the other will wake him up. It’s beautiful!

My Experiences With Lucid DreamLeaf

So here are my main experiences the FIRST time I took them. (I’ll get onto long term later).

The blue pill (the first one you’re supposed to take) knocked me out pretty quickly after I took it (at 9:30pm) and I didn’t dream at all in the time between when I fell asleep and when I awoke.

When I woke and took the red one at 1:30am and fell back asleep, I seemed to have a lot more dreams than usual, both lucid and non lucid. My dreams seemed more vivid and lasted longer than usual. I remember all or most of the dreams I had and even better, had full control!

I have regular lucid dreams but the first time I took DreamLeaf, I flew over cities, moved mountains with just one finger and had vivid conversation; the type of lucid dream so many people I speak to hope to have! This didn’t happen every time I took the supplement, but it was a great start!

This is exactly the sort of thing that motivates many people to actually start lucid dreaming and I’m happy to say that’s the sort of lucid dream I had when I took this.

How to actually use lucid dream leaf to lucid dream

To lucid dream using the Lucid DreamLeaf supplement, you need to relax before going to bed, and then make sure there are no distractions in your room. Take the Blue pill first, then after 4-5 hours of sleep, wake up and take the red pill. Focus on WANTING to lucid dream, and the intention combined with the pills should get you lucid!

But there’s more:

There isn’t much to say regarding using dream leaf.

It’s a supplement that is taken in two parts. Two different colors as explained before but they’re taken at different times. That being said, make sure to remember to do reality checks as well as taking this pill.

It provides lucid support, NOT lucid dream induction

I should note that this is helped by the fact I’ve been a lucid dreamer for a while, but I noticed a huge boost in the vividness from dream leaf. Whilst the product helps with lucid dreaming though, don’t expect it to just make you lucid instantly.

Bear in mind, I’ve been lucid many times before and whether it’s as effective for those who haven’t yet managed it, I can’t say.

However I would say it’s definitely worth a try, it’s particularly good at helping you to recall your dreams (a big step towards becoming lucid) and as one of the best supplements out there that I’ve tried, I reckon it could help you on your journey to lucidity.

The dreams I’ve had after taking it are some of the most vivid ones I’ve had in a while.

You should note here that NO lucid supplement can directly induce a lucid state.

The best they can do is provide what’s called ‘dream support’ which means they can make it more likely that you’ll lucid dream. This  means you still should be doing the normal things like reality checks, writing your dreams down etc.

In fact, I would recommend that before taking any supplement, you at least have tried to have a natural lucid dream for a week or so. Of course, you don’t have to take my word but I find that the best results with supplements happen when you’re also trying your natural techniques as well.

What Are The Side Effects Of Lucid DreamLeaf?

There aren’t many side effects of this pill, other than the few mentioned here.

Of course, as with any pill or drug you should ALWAYS check with your doctor and make sure it doesn’t clash in any way with anything else you’re taking. Also check the ingredients carefully to make sure you’re not allergic to anything there.

It puts you into a deep sleep!

One thing I would point out is the difficulty of waking up after taking the blue pill – I was in such a deep sleep! As long as you remember to set an alarm to take the red pill (and a loud one at that!) you should be fine, but otherwise I doubt you’ll be able to wake up until the morning.

So:

Maybe try this on days where you don’t have to get up in the morning for a set time. Make sure you’re able to lay in if you need to, at least when you first try lucid dream leaf. It can induce a deep sleep. Nothing at all dangerous, but just be aware of this.

It’s not the cheapest of supplements, but I would say that’s justified by the ingredients, which are expensive on their own. It’s full of good quality stuff. There’s no down side to taking dream leaf, no side effects, no lack of effect, so it seems to me that it’s worth the price. Even if you don’t become lucid, it should still make your dreams more dynamic and improve your dream recall.

Is dream leaf actually safe to use?

Lucid DreamLeaf is one of the safest supplements out there, as it’s been specially tested for lucid dreamers and the ingredients are almost all very natural and healthy. As usual, start with a small dose and just try it for one night. See how you feel, then after a few days, try again.

But remember:

With ANY supplement you’re going to find the occasional post on Reddit or somewhere else saying that THEY had a bad reaction or couldn’t get it to work, but that is the case with anything.

I didn’t have any problems with it, and nor did 99.99% of people who’ve tried it! If you don’t believe that, check out their testimonials and see for yourself. While we’re on that note:

What ingredients are in lucid dream leafs’ pills?

There are 5 main ingredients which I think is great because there are loads of pills out there with TONNES of stuff in them that doesn’t need to be. DreamLeaf is different. Here they are: (clicking the links for these goes to my other posts about those specific ingredients in a new tab) Huperzine-A, Mugwort, 5-HTP, Choline Bitartrate, and Alpha GPC

I’m happy to report, the ingredients are solid.

Things that have been shown time and time again to boost your dreams, and increase the chances of you becoming lucid. This stuff works.

DreamLeaf VS Claridream PRO

Although they appear similar, they focus on different goals. Lucid DreamLeaf aims to make it more likely you’ll have a lucid dream, while Claridream PRO helps you remember those dreams better, and also makes them more vivid. A smart lucid dreamer would probably try and experiment with both.

Let me explain a bit more:

Claridream PRO is another lucid dreaming supplement that made it’s way into our top list. Claridream focuses on making dreams more VIVID, and easier to remember however.

I think both are important, and while it’s great to increase the chances of you getting lucid, if you’re not remembering those dreams, it’s completely pointless. Especially if they’re just not vivid at all, and you forget them easily.

DreamLeaf VS Galantamine

Galantamine is a famous lucid dreaming supplement, but not one that’s reccommended for beginners. It can be a bit harsh on the stomach while DreamLeaf doesn’t contain Galantamine. Both work by acting as Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, but Galantamine is a more intense version.

If you’re not a beginner, you might want to just jump in and use galantamine, it will certainly have a more profound effect.

Dream leaf review summary

I’ve found in the long and short term that taking Lucid DreamLeaf supplements 2-3 nights a week gives me a MUCH higher chance of having a lucid dream. At the very least, I find my dreams and easier to remember, and more vivid.

Overall, I would definitely suggest giving dream leaf a try.

If you’re trying to get lucid it could definitely help you on your way if you use it alongside techniques and reality checks, and give you more vivid and interesting dreams along the way; and if you’re already an avid lucid dreamer it’s going to make even better the dreams you’re already having.

There’s nothing to lose really, you get a balanced sleep, more active dreams, and more memory of them when you wake up!

To just make it even more obvious, I would HIGHLY suggest that you do other things alongside using DreamLeaf, like meditating, writing your dreams down and practicing reality checks during the day.

No supplement can make you lucid dream on it’s own but if you do those things AND take DreamLeaf, you’re going to have one hell of a trip.
