People have been experiencing lucid dreams for hundreds of years, but in our generation we’re uniquely lucky because we have some amazing tools at our disposal that lucid dreamers of times gone by could (pardon the pun) have only dreamt of!

Lucid dreaming apps are a relatively new phenomenon, but they’re very exciting for those interested in learning the art of lucid dreams. One such app is SHADOW, an iOS app which is currently in developmental stages. The app can be summed up as a tool which will enable lucid dreamers to record and remember what they’ve dreamt about. But that’s not all.

SHADOW’s primary aim is to create an enormous database of dreams, bigger than the world has ever seen. That database will allow researchers to analyse the dream data, and we can’t wait to see what amazing results they might uncover through this intriguing research.

The creators of SHADOW have raised the money they needed to launch the app through Kickstarter. Whilst the creators have already surpassed their target, we’re sure they’d appreciate any more support so if this sounds like an app you’d like to use then make sure you head over to their Kickstarter page to sponsor the project.

What is SHADOW?

This ambitious app is so much more than a way to record what you’ve dreamt about. Firstly, it’ll work sort of like an alarm clock. Escalating alarms will put the app user into a hypnotic state, ready for lucid dreaming to occur. The sounds will then transition you through the state, controlling your consciousness. Amazing, huh?

Once the dreams ends and you wake up, you’ll be able to tell SHADOW exactly what happened while you were asleep. Make sure you record this information quickly, as humans are known to forget their dreams very quickly after waking, even when they seem quite vivid as we emerge from our semi-conscious state into a state of full wakefulness.

Did you know that every night you experience at least 100 minutes of dreams? How much of those can you remember from last night? Very little, we bet! But it’s interesting that when you woke your brain was probably still full of the events of your dreams. So, if you were using SHADOW you would’ve been able to easily record these and therefore recall them later in the day, or whenever you wished.

SHADOW aims to be a social app, so whilst dreaming is of course a private affair, SHADOW will connect users who are interested in the world of dreams and the subconscious mind, encouraging them to share information and analysis of dreams.

We have no idea what SHADOW might uncover. Perhaps every dream recorded will be totally different. Or perhaps SHADOW will discover interesting patterns in users’ dreams that warrant further research and analysis. When dreams are analysed on an epic scale, it’s impossible to tell what might happen. But we know it’s going to be good!

Why Should We Record Our Dreams?

You might wonder what the purpose is in recording and remembering what you dream about. Some people might think that dreams are simply nonsense created by our subconscious mind, of little use or purpose to everyday life. But that’s not true! Dreams possess huge untapped potential, it’s just a case of understanding them.

The brain is a great problem solver. In fact, our subconscious mind is often much more effective than our conscious mind is solving complex issues. That’s because when our subconscious mind is focussed on a problem it’s far less likely to become distracted by other senses. It can remain focussed on one thing, exclusively, for as long as it takes to solve it. And that’s a powerful tool.

For example, have you ever found yourself struggling with a complicated problem for days on end, a problem which you finally gave up on and dismissed as impossible? Have you ever then found that days or weeks later, the solution just came to you, as if by magic? That’s a prime example of your subconscious mind fixing something without you ever being aware of it!

So, if you think about it, remembering your dreams could be key to helping you to become a far superior problem solver. Did you know that we forget 95% of our dreams within five minutes of waking up?

Just imagine the potential your brain possesses, which you could easily tap into if you just remembered all the information from your dreams?

Many of the world’s most incredible inventions were first conceived in dreams – take electricity or laser technology for example. Did you know Frankenstein’s monster was also first realised through a dream? So, if you could remember your dreams, just think of what you might also be able to do in the real world!

A New Community

The SHADOW team are ready and waiting to mine the data they get from this great new app. The more people that use the app, the greater the resource becomes. It’s only a matter of time until some interesting dream patterns are sure to emerge through SHADOW.

And it goes without saying that this is an app where the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. If you’re an avid user who inputs all their dream information whenever you can, you’re more likely to see trends and patterns in your own dream data as time goes by.

It could help you learn a lot about yourself and your subconscious mind, which is always intriguing to any avid dream researcher. With SHADOW, your dreams will be visualised and patterns and common themes will be noted. These symbols then become insights which you can easily understand and process.

The Kickstarter Campaign

The SHADOW app has raised its much-needed funds on Kickstarter. These funds will help the app get off the ground, funding a team of genius developers who will create a dream app the like of which has never been seen before. Thanks to the incredible support of dreamers everywhere, the app has surpassed its target, so it’s now being built!

Amazingly, the SHADOW app reached its target within a week of launching, which is fantastic news for us as it shows that people are really getting on board with the idea of creating the world’s greatest dream database. At the time of writing, SHADOW had raised $82,577 (way more than its original goal of $50,000, from 3,784 backers. Incredible!

Are you interested in trying SHADOW for yourself? The app is currently in development, but as it’s now fully funded through Kickstarter, its launch should be on the horizon soon. To keep up to date on the campaign’s progress make sure you follow the page on Kickstarter and keep checking back to find out when the big launch will be.

We are so excited to see the launch of this amazing app, and even more excited to start learning from the incredible dream database that SHADOW will create. We’ll be amongst the first to start recording our dreams every morning, we’re telling you now!
