Are You Dreaming?
Do A Reality Check Carefully Now
About Reality Checks
Reality checks are a crucial technique for lucid dreamers. They work by exploiting the different cognitive functions of the dreaming and waking brain, helping you to become aware within a dream. In a dream, certain things will behave in ways that are inconsistent with the real world.
How to Use Them
There are numerous ways to perform a reality check, here are a few examples:
- Reading text: Text or numbers often change or don't make sense in dreams. Try reading a sentence, looking away, and reading it again.
- Hand through solid object: In a dream, your hand may be able to pass through a solid wall or object.
- Count your fingers: Look at your hand and count your fingers. In a dream, you may have more or fewer than five fingers.
- Jumping: In a dream, when you jump, you might float or fly instead of landing back on the ground.
Practice these tests during your waking hours and they will become a habit, eventually carrying over into your dreams and helping you become lucid.
